Tablet running windows 8 are unlikely to go onsale in the UK untill 2013. Although some Intel-based tablets have been shown running the new OS,we expect tablet manufacturers to continue selecting ARM processors as they have done for Android and iOS.These are more power-efficient and allow for longer battery life.
Microsoft has hinted that the Classic desktop will co-exist with Metro in devices running ARM processors ,although you won't be able to run desktop software in this environment as you might on an Intel-based Windows 8 desktop.Meanwhile ,apps designed for Metro will run on both Intel-and ARM-based systems and ,as with Android and iOS,windows 8 has its own Store for their purchase.
